British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Tuesday that Britain will increase its stockpile of nuclear warheads by more than 40 percent to ensure its security in an increasingly dangerous global environment and as it faces new technological threats.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Foreign Ministry described the British plans as a serious blow to the concept of arms control.
And the Russian Information Agency quoted Moscow as saying that it would take London's move into account when working on developing its military plans.
