A 54-year-old Croatian diver sets a record by holding his breath underwater



Croatian diver Podemir Buda Schobat, 54, set a new record for holding his breath underwater after being submerged in water for about 24 minutes 33 seconds, while his last record was 24 minutes 11 seconds three years ago.


The British newspaper, the Daily Mail, reported that Podemir Buda Chubat, at the age of 54, is a holder of records in the Guinness Book of Records, while he managed to break his record, setting a new record of 24 minutes and 33 seconds to hold his breath under water.


The report stated that "Shubat" dived in a swimming pool in the town of Sisak during the registration of his new number, under the supervision of doctors, reporters and supporters, as he finished his record attempt, and he prepared by breathing pure oxygen to increase the level of oxygen in the blood before trying to register his new number. A bodybuilder, however he turned his course to scuba diving.


Through years, with continuous training and adaptation, he was able to train his body and brain to dive for long periods of time, as he trained the body to pump blood at a very slow rate in the body.
