Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, met today with a number of members of the Serbian government delegation headed by Igor Mirovic, Governor of the "Vojvodina" region of the Republic of Serbia, which includes representatives of the tourism, economy, industry and trade sectors in Serbia, during their current visit to Egypt.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Jugoslav Vukadinovic, Serbian Ambassador in Cairo, Ghada Shalaby, Deputy Minister for Tourism Affairs, and Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance tourism and archaeological cooperation between the two countries and increase tourism movement to Egypt from Serbia.
Dr. Khaled Al-Anani began the meeting by welcoming the delegation in Egypt, and stressing the importance of the Serbian tourism market as one of the most important tourist markets exporting tourism to Egypt, as it is considered one of the first twenty countries exporting tourism to Egypt.
The minister pointed out that the tourist movement coming from Serbia to Egypt is witnessing a noticeable increase, pointing out that Serbia was one of the first countries whose tourists came to Egypt since the resumption of inbound movement to it last July, which confirms the confidence of the State of Serbia in the precautionary measures and health safety controls applied by Egypt. This also reflects the Serbian tourist’s keenness to visit the Egyptian tourist destination and enjoy a safe tourist experience in it.
The minister emphasized the depth of relations between the two countries at the official and popular levels, which are witnessing cooperation in many fields, including tourism and antiquities, pointing to the importance of consolidating these relations during the coming period.
The minister talked about the efforts made by the Egyptian state to support the tourism sector from the repercussions of the Coronavirus crisis to ensure the safety of workers in the sector, citizens and tourists, including the measures that have been taken to confront this crisis, including precautionary measures and health safety controls.
He explained that Egypt is updating these procedures and controls in all its airports, hotels, resorts, tourist places, museums and archaeological sites regularly and periodically in accordance with the ongoing developments of the global repercussions of the Corona crisis.
He added that the Egyptian state has given high priority to vaccinating workers in the tourism sector with anti-virus vaccines, indicating that during the days of the official announcement of the completion of vaccination of workers in the governorates of South Sinai and the Red Sea, he pointed out that after that, the vaccination of workers in the governorates of Cairo, Giza, Luxor and Aswan will begin. .
The meeting also discussed a number of important issues, including the work of the joint Egyptian-Serbian committee between the two countries, which will witness a broader framework for discussing joint cooperation methods between the two countries.
On his part, Igor Mirovic, Governor of the "Vojvodina" region of the Republic of Serbia, thanked the Minister for this important meeting, expressing his country's desire to strengthen the means of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of tourism and culture, as the region of "Vojvodina" is considered a major cultural region in the Republic of Serbia, and from For his part, the Minister referred to the possibility of organizing tourism and cultural events between the two countries in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.
Igor Mirovic talked about Egypt's successful participation as a guest of honor last year in the Serbian Tourism Exhibition, extending an invitation to Anani to visit the State of Serbia and participate in the next session of the exhibition, and for his part, the Minister welcomed this invitation.
During the meeting, the members of the delegation indicated that Egypt is one of the most important tourist destinations preferred by the Serbian tourist, especially in light of his passion for the picturesque Egyptian beaches on the Red Sea coast, praising the importance of the step taken by Egypt to vaccinate workers in the tourism sector in it.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Igor Mirovi exchanged souvenirs, where the minister presented him with an antique clone.
