Extensive power cuts in several Jordanian governorates

Today, Friday, the Jordanian government announced power cuts in most of the kingdom's governorates, according to what was published by the state-owned Al-Mamlaka Channel in Jordan.

The government indicated that it "is currently gradually rebuilding the system and gradually restoring electricity to all areas that were cut off in the coming hours."

Several areas in Jordan are experiencing power outages, according to several press sources, pointing to a defect in the main electricity provider, without specifying a clear cause of the defect.

The director of the Jordanian Electricity Company, Hassan Abdullah, spoke about "the power cuts for large segments in the various governorates of the company in Madaba, Zarqa, Amman and Balqa, due to a defect from the main supplier and not from the Jordanian company."
