Japan Times: Elderly vaccinations will be completed in 85% of Japan's regions by July

A statistic of the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Health revealed that it is expected that the vaccination of the elderly against Corona virus will be completed in 85.6% of Japan's regions by next July.

According to the statistics reported by the Japanese newspaper Japan Times - it is expected that the vaccinations for COVID-19 for the elderly will be completed in 1,490 out of 1741 municipalities in Japan, or 85.6%, by the end of July.

The vaccination program began for about 36 million people aged 65 or over on April 12. According to the two ministries, at least 30 million of these will be vaccinated by the end of July.

The newspaper pointed out that to speed up the launch, plans have been drawn up to establish large vaccination centers run by the Self-Defense Forces in Tokyo and Osaka, where vaccinations are scheduled to begin on May 24.

The Japanese Ministry of Defense said that vaccination reservations for large vaccination centers will be accepted as of next Monday through a website and a dedicated application.

And Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said last month that the government plans to give all elderly people who hope to receive a second vaccine from the new Corona virus vaccine by the end of July.

17 of the country's 47 counties, including Kyoto and Hyogo, which are subject to the central government's third state of emergency due to the Coronavirus, said they expect to end vaccinating the elderly in all municipalities by the end of July.
