Macron asks Johnson to "keep on his Brexit promise"

French President Emmanuel Macron has asked British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to "keep on the promise he made to respect the Brexit agreement," according to "Russia Today".

In a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Group of Seven (G7) summit, Macron stressed his request from Johnson to "implement the protocol on Northern Ireland and allow the use of British territorial waters for French and European fishermen for the agreed period of time."

While British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab responded, saying that "the United Kingdom will not compromise an inch of its sovereignty and the protection of the unity of the four British provinces, including Northern Ireland."

And the agency "Reuters", quoting a source, indicated that Macron told British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, that "the two countries have common interests, but relations can only improve if Johnson keeps his word on the terms of Britain's exit from the European Union."

The source explained that "the French president told Boris Johnson that there is a need to reset French-British relations, and that this can happen provided that Johnson keeps his word with the Europeans," noting that Macron spoke in English to Johnson.
