Today, Sunday, the Directorate of Civil Defense announced that a fire in a hotel in the center of Karbala was extinguished and 78 inmates were rescued, and a civil defense statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that “Civil Defense teams rescued 78 inmates after a fire broke out inside the four-storey Dai Al Hussein Hotel. With a number of shops on the ground floor located on Al-Seddah Street in the center of the holy city of Karbala.


The statement added that "a number of inmates were subjected to severe suffocation as a result of inhaling the toxic products of the fire, and they were taken to the hospital to receive the necessary treatment, with the death of a girl in the hospital as a result of suffocation."


He continued, "The incident was ended and an investigation was opened at the police station responsible for the geographical area, based on the report of the forensic expert to determine the causes of the fire."
