The European Union increases its humanitarian aid to Palestine to more than 34 million euros


The European Union decided to increase its humanitarian aid to the most needy people in Palestine by 8 million euros, bringing the total of the humanitarian aid provided by the Union to 34.4 million euros this year.

 

The European Commission stated in a statement that this additional funding will be allocated to support victims of recent acts of violence, as part of the humanitarian aid provided by the European Union for the year 2021, which aims to protect the most vulnerable Palestinians, provide life-saving assistance and support human dignity.

 

For his part, European Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarchic said, “After the ceasefire was announced, urgent access to humanitarian aid is now vital to alleviate the suffering of many innocent victims .. We are horrified at the death of many children, including 11 children in Gaza who were benefiting. From the Federation's Trauma Care Program. "

 

"The European Union maintains decisive support for protection programs, health care, education, access to safe drinking water and cash assistance. The European Union insists on respecting international humanitarian law, and it cannot accept the forced displacement of civilians or the demolition of their homes and schools," he added.

 

The funding announced today includes 8 million euros in emergency aid and 200,000 euros to support the Palestine Red Crescent Society in providing immediate assistance through emergency medical services around the clock, seven days a week, in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
