The Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ambassador Hossam Zaki, said that the Electoral Administrations Forum is the culmination of cooperation between the League and the United Nations and a continuation of the first and second forums.
He added before the Electoral Administrations Forum that the first forum set the main framework for cooperation in the field of elections, while the second forum was an opportunity to exchange experiences, especially in voter registration.
He explained that the Arab countries have witnessed a remarkable increase in the electoral process, while it remains expected to increase in the coming years, which requires cooperation in the next stage, explaining that the electoral processes and their systems and laws varied with the electoral systems differing from one country to another according to the political and constitutional system and the political, economic and social transformations that it has undergone. every country.
He said that previous electoral practices demonstrated the need for electoral systems that would represent all segments of society, women, youth and minorities, in addition to the parties participating in the political process, which would contribute to the election of representatives capable of meeting the needs of society, achieving its aspirations and ambitions, and contributing to laying the solid foundations for sustainable democracy. in various parliamentary websites.
