South African press reports revealed today, Tuesday, that Keegan Dolly, the South African player whose contract with the French team Montpellier has expired, is close to joining the Al-Ahly club next season.
According to a special source for Citizen newspaper, Keegan is close to joining Al-Ahly, especially in light of the presence of Pitso Mosimane, his former coach at the head of Al-Ahly's technical leadership, in addition to Kevin Johnson, who is the discoverer of the player.
The newspaper indicated that Dolly wants to stay in Europe, except for his desire to participate in longer periods to restore his level and brilliance again, as there are options to return to South Africa again in light of talks between him and Mamelodi Sun Downs, his former team.
South African press reports confirmed that Betso Musimani, the technical director of Al-Ahly team, is planning to obtain the services of the French Montpellier star Keegan Dolly, after the failure to include the Uruguayan star Just Sereno from the South African Sun Downs team.
The player's contract with his French club has expired, and therefore he can sign for any club, but Montpellier, France, is still committed to extending the player's contract, and the financial offer from Al-Ahly will be the decisive factor in the decision to return the player from Europe.
Keegan Dolly was born on January 22, 1993 in Johannesburg, Gauteng, and began playing football at Westbury Arsenal, then moved to the School of Excellence and was then spotted by Mamelodi Sun Downs club.
Kegan Dolly moved in 2012 from Sun Downs to Ajax Cape Town, and this is probably where Dolly became famous during his time at Ajax.
Keegan Dolly then won the Best Young Player award in the South African Football Premier League for the 2013/2014 season.
And Keegan Dolly’s brilliance with Ajax Cape Town prompted Sun Downs to buy him again from Ajax Cape Town for the 2014-2015 season, but due to many players occupying the same position as Keegan Dolly, Sun Downs made him loan to Cape Town for more playing time.
Sun Downs included Keegan Dolly again in the 2015/2016 season and was able to crown him with the African Champions League title and presented a great season under the leadership of Betso Musimani.
Then, on January 26, 2017, Keegan Dolly moved to Montpellier's French ranks.
Dolly, 27, played under Musimani for 3 years in the Sun Downs team, winning the 2016 African Champions League and the South Africa League title.
