The Spanish Federation rejects Barcelona's request that Pedri not participate in the Olympics

The Spanish Football Federation rejected Barcelona's management's request not to participate in the Tokyo Olympics, the young star Pedri.

Spanish radio station Cadena Ser reported that Spanish federation officials categorically rejected the Barca administration's request to exempt Pedri from participating with La Roja in the Tokyo Olympics, despite the Catalan team's right to do so.

She added, that there is no possibility for Barcelona, ​​in order to refuse Pedri's participation with Spain, in the Olympic Games, especially since there were cases of players who claimed injury in order not to participate in the Olympics, but in Pedri's case, this cannot be done because the player wants to go and represent the Matador in This big event.

She continued, that Barcelona officials have no right to give Pedri a leave after participating in the Tokyo Olympics to prevent him from being injured, because the player will have finished last season, then participated in the European Nations Cup "Euro 2020" with Spain, and immediately after the Olympics.

The young talent Pedri, the Barcelona midfielder, will participate with the Spanish national team in the European Nations Cup "Euro 2020", and contributed to qualifying the Matador to the quarter-finals and facing Switzerland the day after tomorrow, Friday.

She added that the laws of the Olympics stipulate the participation of players under 23 years old, which is available in Pedri, the Barca midfielder.

She continued, that the Barcelona administration began communicating with the Spanish Federation to notify it of the refusal of Pedri's participation with the Spanish national team in the Olympics, especially in light of his participation in the European Nations Cup "Euro 2020".

Pedri faces stress or injury, if he participates with the Spanish national team in the Tokyo Olympics, where he will end the Euro competitions with La Roja, then head to the Tokyo Olympics and will not rest before the start of the new season.

The newspaper concluded, that Barcelona club has the right to refuse the participation of any of its players in the Tokyo Olympics, which are run under the supervision of the Olympic Committee and not the International Football Association “FIFA” and does not fall within the international agenda.
