Tokyo sets a new record for Corona injuries in the middle of the Olympics

Tokyo, the capital of Japan, the host country for the Olympic Games (Tokyo 2020), announced today, Tuesday, 2,848 new cases of the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19), which is the highest number of daily infections recorded so far.

Tokyo set an unprecedented record in the Japanese capital since the beginning of the epidemic, in light of its hosting of the Olympic Games, which opened on the 23rd of this month.

This new record exceeds the previous record recorded on January 7, when 2,520 cases were counted, amid a fourth emergency, in force in the Japanese capital until August 22, and throughout international sports competitions.

The network (NHK) quoted Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike as saying, "We are concerned that the number of people in serious condition is increasing. Those over the age of 65 represent 2% of the infected. The important thing is that young people are vaccinated in As soon as possible".

It should be noted that only 25.5% of the population in Japan received two doses of the vaccine, and the vast majority of them were over 65 years old, according to the latest government data.

The Japanese government declared a state of emergency on July 12 due to an increase in cases in the capital and concern about an outbreak of the delta mutant.
